Air Export Specialist

Responsible for facilitating the movement of products, equipment, and materials out of the country via air freight, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, and in compliance with relevant local, national, and international laws and processes. To provide customer service to exporting customers: bookings, rates, document production, accounting, agent interaction, and problem resolution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare and coordinate the necessary documentation for the efficient, cost-effective, and lawful execution of all air export activities. Coordinate cargo pickup and transfer. Monitor shipment status. Communicate with export-related authorities, customers, and suppliers in all relevant territories and countries to ensure efficient, positive, and lawful relations and activities. Manage and update carrier/vendor rates. Obtain spot rates when necessary. Communicate and correspond with overseas agents and clients in a timely manner, including pre-alerts, rate requests, and shipment status updates. Track shipments and keep customers and agents informed of status. Create and maintain customer files. Handle customer invoicing and payable approvals. Audit files to ensure accuracy and completeness. Interact with coworkers professionally and courteously. Complete JWS entry and documentation. Assist other departments or divisions as needed or upon request by department or branch management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite. Detail-oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines. Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team. Knowledge of customs laws, practices, and procedures. Ability to perform essential duties without posing a health or safety threat to self or others. Ability to interact positively and effectively with coworkers, subordinates, and supervisors. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED. Additional languages are a plus. Geographical knowledge is requested. Experience in the freight forwarding industry is a plus. ENVIRONMENT: 100% of work is performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment under normal conditions. Travel may be required up to a certain percentage to support the position’s responsibilities. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently, the employee must kneel, crouch, lift weights up to 25 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
