Director of Business Development

Are you a business leader that wants to make an impact?

EF Education First is looking for a Business Development Director to drive the growth and expansion of our program. EF offers culturally immersive education, combining academics, language learning, travel, and cultural exchange to provide life-changing experiences for our customers.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, assertive, and growth-oriented leader to join our central management team. You will be based in Zurich, Switzerland, and travel frequently. As Business Development Director, you will help expand our program into new markets in Europe and Latin America and continue developing existing markets.

What you’ll do:
  1. Set the strategy and own the budget for each of your markets, analyzing each market’s local needs and adapting accordingly.
  2. Cultivate partnerships within local communities and drive comprehensive marketing initiatives across digital and offline channels to expand our brand awareness resulting in increased leads to reach both short-term and long-term objectives.
  3. Head the recruitment of great staff and managers to build high-performing and engaged teams. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and motivation to inspire exceptional results and foster the growth and strengths-based development of your people.
  4. Ensure quality growth by focusing on excellence in operations, customer service, and support.
  5. Collaborate and contribute to the global management team and various business units across the organization, fostering close cooperation on strategic central initiatives to achieve annual OKRs and product development.
  6. Lead your teams through a digital transformation, adapting to new technologies, processes, and structure.
Your profile:

You are a positive, energetic, and fearless leader who takes initiative and thrives when given ownership.

You have a strong track record of driving growth and expanding market share.

You have strong business acumen, commercial instinct, and the ability to see the big picture, which allows you to plan for the long-term development of your markets.

You have experience expanding into new markets. You know what it takes to build up an office from scratch, grow a team, lay the foundation of our culture, and set the team up to be independent.

You are a natural connector and can quickly build trust and establish relationships. You can do this internally across cross-departments, as well as externally with local embassies and other partners to foster continued growth of the program.

You have experience leading change management initiatives, setting strategies to support the transition, adapting as necessary, and facilitating a smooth adoption of the new processes.

Requirements:
  1. Relevant university degree
  2. 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in business development, sales, and/or marketing
  3. Experience navigating cultural exchange visa processes
  4. Fluent in English, plus Portuguese and/or Spanish
