Global GBV AoR Information Management Analyst, Humanitarian Response Division
Vor 2 Tagen
The Position:
The global GBV AoR Information Management (IM) Analyst position sits in the Inter-Agency Coordination Unit in the Humanitarian Response Division of UNFPA in Geneva.
The Information Management Analyst collaborates and supports global, regional and field stakeholders, including within the Global Protection Cluster and OCHA-led data groups, as well as the regionally based GBV IM specialists (REGA teams) and field GBV coordination teams. The position also works towards UNFPA institutional capacity strengthening on GBV IM, including integration on data methodologies with UNFPA HRD programs and across units.
The position reports to the Deputy of the Global GBV AoR and works in close consultation and with technical oversight by the Information Management Analyst in the External Relations Unit.
How you can make a difference:
UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s strategic plan (2022-2025), reaffirms the relevance of the current strategic direction of UNFPA and focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. These results capture our strategic commitments on accelerating progress towards realizing the ICPD and SDGs in the Decade of Action leading up to 2030. Our strategic plan calls upon UN Member States, organizations and individuals to “build forward better”, while addressing the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, recover lost gains and realize our goals.
In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.
UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.
Job Purpose:
The overall purpose of the Humanitarian Response Division (HRD) is to facilitate the delivery of the UNFPA mandate by leading emergency response and supporting humanitarian preparedness actions in increasingly complex humanitarian situations, within globally agreed frameworks (2030 Agenda, Grand Bargain Commitments, Sendai Framework, etc.).
UNFPA is the lead-agency of the GBV AoR within the Protection Cluster. The global GBV AoR coordination team is based in the Inter-agency Coordination Unit in the UNFPA Humanitarian Response Division.
Global and in-country clusters are guided by 6 +1 core functions: Facilitating service delivery, information strategic decision-making, planning and strategy development, monitoring, contingency planning; and advocacy. All clusters are also expected to have a strategy for Accountability to Affected Populations. Information Management is an integral part of delivering on all these areas.
The GBV AoR Information Management Officer, with technical guidance and oversight by the global Information Management Specialist in the External Relations Unit, will support the delivery of minimum IM deliverables in-country; and will produce significant global analysis to help with reporting and monitoring of inter-agency field results, gather lessons learned and best practices. Furthermore, the incumbent will help develop new IM tools, guidance and methodologies to in-country coordination teams in collaboration with OCHA, GPC, and other relevant global inter-agency data groups. He/she will also liaison with the global GBV IMS project.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Advanced university degree in data science, economics, statistics, programming, geo-mapping, or other related fields with a focus on skills relevant to information management and/or data management.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 2 years increasingly responsible professional experience in areas relevant to Information Management, analysis, and needs assessments.
- Effectively uses quantitative and qualitative analysis as well as visualization methods, software and ability to produce and disseminate regular IM products tailored to appropriate audiences.
- Required demonstrable professional experience in the area of Gender-Based Violence Information Management linked to cluster and/or sub-cluster coordination.

- Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools, desktop editing and publishing software;
- Knowledge of the UN system, the Cluster Approach and the Transformative Agenda;
