Accurate tracking and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data is essential to Glencore’s ability to manage carbon across the business, track and ensure compliance with its climate commitments, meet external reporting requirements and respond accurately to climate regulations and associated taxes. Our Carbon Reporting Management team in Baar is looking for a Carbon Reporting Specialist to support with our internal and external GHG emissions reporting needs. You will be working in a highly diverse international environment with the opportunity to contribute to implement and maintain consistent, robust and verifiable reporting of Group GHG emissions in compliance with Glencore’s climate strategy and regulatory requirements.
The main tasks and responsibilities- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in capturing emissions data across our diverse portfolio of industrial assets.
- Support the development and implementation of standardised and coherent processes for emissions data collection, validation and reporting.
- Coordinate with industrial and marketing teams to ensure consistency in emissions data reporting and the avoidance of double counting of emissions across the Glencore Group.
- Support internal and external assurance processes, including conducting materiality assessments and coordinating industrial asset emissions data evidence collection.
- Stay updated on applicable voluntary and mandatory reporting standards, best practices and industry guidance related to emissions reporting. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements from a globally diversified natural resource company’s perspective.
- Support the development of a GHG emissions reporting knowledge base that enables robust, consistent and verifiable GHG emissions data collection, calculation and reporting practices across the Glencore Group, primarily where it relates to industrial emissions data.
- Provide additional support to the reporting, systems and assurance teams as required.
- Great communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight timeframes and in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a science, sustainability, economics, engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 2-5 years’ work experience in an analytical role.
- Knowledge of the GHG Protocol, the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and international sustainability reporting standards and guidance (CSRD, ISSB, ICMM, etc.).
- Knowledge of financial accounting and control processes.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to analyse large datasets, interpret complex information, and provide actionable insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools and programming languages (e.g., Power BI) is desirable.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Swiss citizen, Swiss B/C permit or EU passport holder.
