UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, Hope
How can you make a difference?
UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECARO) will implement Business Model Learning Labs (BMLLs) as part of UNICEF’s Business Model Initiative to propose solutions to pursue results at scale through innovative models.
The BMLLs in ECAR focus on efficient and affordable programmatic and partnership engagement models aiming to enhance further the capacity to leverage resources towards results for children at scale. The BMLLs are built on three major pillars: i. ensuring the country's office-level capacity to leverage resources; ii. pursuing operational efficiencies with a focus on Upper Middle Income Countries, and iii. establishing innovative technical assistance modalities in priority areas. The Business Model Learning Labs are grounded on the region’s experience in leveraging results and financing for children. They are building on regional contextual opportunities, including engagement in EU Member States and EU Accession Countries. Similarly, new business models will be implemented to quickly equip country offices with shared capacities and expertise on innovative financing and public financial management to position and attract financing and funding in new priority areas, such as climate or mental health. Finally, the BM Initiative will focus on programmatic relevance and operational efficiencies with a particular focus on UMIC countries, including a predictable transition planning from UMIC to HIC. The learning from the implementation of the business model is a key component of the initiative. As such, UNICEF ECARO requires the assistance of a knowledge management (KM) consultant to contribute to the implementation of a comprehensive approach to capturing, sharing, and utilizing knowledge emerging from the BMLLs within the organization, ensuring that valuable insights and best practices are systematically documented and accessible.
Scope of Work:
This consultancy aims to support the development of a comprehensive Knowledge Management Plan for the BMLLs initiative in ECAR, ensuring effective information management, knowledge capture, and dissemination. The consultant will maintain a central site for document hosting, facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, and document key milestones of the process. The consultant will also support the development of graphic materials and provide capacity-building training for staff on KM tools and platforms. Additionally, the consultant will support the coordination of reference group meetings and consolidate information for reporting and global knowledge exchange sessions.
Estimated Duration of the Contract
215 working days between January 2025 and December 2025.
Consultant's Work Place
The Consultant will be remote/home-based.
Estimated Cost of the Consultancy & Payment Schedule
Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs are incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future.
Please submit a professional fee (in USD) based on 215 working days to undertake this assignment.

It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
