PhD position –Probing biomolecular interactions with plasmonic sensing

The research focuses on probing biomolecular interactions with plasmonic sensing. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) are strong photon-induced collective hot-electron coupling effects, which can create intense and sensitive electromagnetic near-field associated with noble metal nanostructures. SPR and LSPR have been demonstrated as powerful tools to study nanoscale bimolecular interactions and sensitive biosensing. Our group has been engaged in plasmonic biosensing for real-time and label-free biomolecular interaction analysis, such as airborne virus detection, local aggregation of proteins and nucleic acids, etc.
Additionally, our group performs research on various aspects of sensing systems based on advanced optics, microfluidics, and electrochemical methods, which provides a wide range of opportunities for the PhD candidate.
The student will be involved in tasks such as:
- Investigating interaction of proteins and nucleic acids
- Developing advanced plasmonic materials
- Developing various configurations of plasmonic sensing methods
We are looking for suitable candidates with a master-level degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, material science, or related fields with excellent grades. Good experimental capability is of high value. Good command of English is required.
