Position Summary

As a Laboratory Technician in NPTC Nutrition at Konolfingen site, your primary role will be on the planning and executing experiments in Food Biotechnology area, working in close collaboration with R&D scientists.

A Day in the Life of a Laboratory Technician

  1. Together with R&D scientists, plan, execute & document wet lab experiments, i.e. fermentations and drying of probiotic bacteria at laboratory scale.
  2. Conduct analysis of probiotic bacteria using both classical and diverse modern microbiological methods.
  3. Participate in the maintenance of the microbiology laboratory and its related equipment; all in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  4. Organization of the laboratory operations, incl. preparing Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), in cooperation with the team.
  5. Support Nestlé factories and analytical labs on method implementation & mastership.
  6. Coaching and training of students.

What will make you successful

  1. VET (CFC) of Laboratory technician in biology or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of microbiology and/or biotechnology.
  3. Experience in the field of lactic acid bacteria is an asset.
  4. Experience in the development and use of molecular biology methods is an asset.
  5. Ability to work autonomously and possess good organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  6. Good communication skills (written and oral) in English. German is an asset.
  7. Good knowledge of MS Office tools, more specifically proficient in Excel.
