Applications are invited for a PhD position in Computational Galaxy Formation at the Department of Astrophysics. The successful candidate will be working with Prof. Feldmann's group, benefiting from excellent computing infrastructure and dedicated access to the top-notch facilities of the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre.
Your responsibilities The applicant will investigate the formation and evolution of galaxies in the early Universe using state-of-the-art cosmological simulations. Key tasks include studying the properties of massive galaxies with and without feedback from supermassive black holes, comparing results with observations from the James Webb Space Telescope, and exploring the physical processes underlying galaxy evolution during these early epochs.Your profileApplicants should have a Master's degree (or equivalent) in physics, astronomy, or a related field. Individuals with a strong interest in numerical simulations, data analysis, and galaxy evolution are especially encouraged to apply.

The submission of standardized test scores and English proficiency tests is optional. Following the initial selection process based on the submitted application documents, suitable candidates may be invited to remote interviews, with letters of recommendation requested at that time.
