About the Role

The Head Finance Central Data Management is a pivotal senior role within the Finance Operations and Projects team of Global Finance Operations and Transformation. The Head Finance Central Data Management will be responsible for building up and overseeing two critical teams within the unit: the Master & Static Data Management team and the Data Model Management & Quality Assurance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across the Group Finance organization and beyond.

Having a strong understanding of the Group IFRS financial process, you will work as part of a team to drive the preparation, execution and improvement of data management and data quality within Swiss Re. This requires broad stakeholder alignment of the various data requirements and handshakes required, while ensuring that data and its quality are addressed and appropriately managed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the Data Model Management & Quality Assurance team, ensuring the financial data model aligns with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Lead the Master & Static Data Management team to maintain high standards of data quality and accuracy.
  • Implement data model management and quality assurance processes to support financial operations and reporting.
  • Direct master data management activities, including the creation, maintenance, and governance of master and reference data.
  • Ensure data quality assurance across all financial data sets, identifying and addressing any data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to align data management practices with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Setup of Finance Data Governance Forum to discuss and resolve data quality issues in the financial reporting process, leveraging cross-functional collaboration. Establish continuous monitoring and evaluation.
  • Establish end-to-end (E2E) data lineage to provide a detailed understanding of the lifecycle of data as it moves through various stages and systems within the organization's data architecture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in data management processes, leveraging automation and technology where appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and direction to teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

About the Team

Global Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) is the unit responsible for the accounting and reporting of accurate and consistent financial information Globally for Swiss Re for external reporting and internal analysis facilitating strategic decision-making. This includes IFRS for Group as well as statutory financial information for all Swiss Re's legal entities, including SST and Solvency II. GFO&T spearheads the transformation of Group Finance, streamlining it towards a simpler, more effective forward-looking organisation.

About You

You're a dynamic and engaging leader who brings the best out of individuals and teams to support the overall goals of the Finance Operations & Projects team. In addition, you are a confident communicator who can engage with colleagues with diverse backgrounds.

Key requirements include:

  • 5+ years in a senior management position.
  • Strong leadership skills to develop and manage high-performing teams.
  • Proven experience in data management, preferably within a finance or operations setting.
  • Excellent understanding of data governance, data quality, and data model management principles.
  • Strong understanding of Swiss Re's end-to-end Group Finance systems and process landscape, encompassing Group Reporting processes and related systems
  • Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Familiarity with financial systems and databases, and the ability to liaise effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
