Why we are recruiting
As part of the Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics, the Forum's International Organisations and Humanitarian Agenda helps shape multilateral action and build prosperity and resilience of underserved communities in emerging and frontier economies. The team pursues a three-pillar strategy to achieve this by (i) driving collaboration with International Organisations and International Finance Institutions through bilateral engagement as well as institutional frameworks, (ii) promoting an enabling environment for financing resilience through two global initiatives; the Resilience Consortium, and the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Initiative, and (iii) advancing the humanitarian agenda by strengthening public-private collaboration. The team continues to explore new collaboration opportunities that connect with the broader international finance and development agendas.
Launched at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022, the Resilience Consortium brings together ministers, chief executives and heads of international organizations to accelerate collective action across key resilience drivers for the global economy. The Consortium provides a unique opportunity to business and public sector leaders to participate in a global effort to develop a deeper and more integrated perspective on resilience management. The main goal of the Consortium is to set the agenda for public-private cooperation and investment to build resilient economies.
Reporting lines and interactions
The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Head of International Organisations and Humanitarian Agenda. Internally, this person will work closely with colleagues from relevant Industry, Regional and Centre teams to advance the resilience agenda and engage select international organisations. Externally, this person will engage with a diverse group of stakeholders related to the Resilience Consortium and with counterparts from international organisations on thematic and policy issues related to the work of the team.
Breakdown of main responsibilities
- Delivering on the objectives of the Resilience Consortium and managing, mobilizing and facilitating high-level communities of leaders and experts from across the Forum's stakeholder ecosystem
- Horizon scanning and identifying new areas for collaboration on frontier policy issues in the resilience and development/international finance landscape as well as the future of multilateralism, including through content curation and internal & external communications
- Leading Forum relations with a select portfolio of International Organisations, understanding their priorities and proactively identifying ways to support and enhance impact of their core constituents through Forum activities
- Identifying strategic opportunities and preparing the Forum's presence and contributions at key multilateral gatherings
- Engaging with colleagues across the Forum to ensure coherence between Forum initiatives on resilience, and coordinated internal and external communications
- Supporting overall team strategy and coordination
The successful candidate will be assessed on
- Development and delivery of project and community management
- Agile coordination and engagement with internal and external stakeholders
- Stakeholder management skills and capacity to provide an excellent service to customers, including adjustments based on feedback from constituents
- Experience of international engagement and leadership of relationships with international organisations
- Comfort representing the Forum in external events and meetings
Preferred Requirements and Experience
- 7+ years of relevant professional work experience, preferably across public and private sectors, with experience from multilateral or development finance institutions a plus
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in political science, development, economics, international relations, or a related field
- Creativity and curiosity to explore and develop new approaches and collaboration models between different stakeholders
- Preference for proven track record of incubating and driving impactful projects
- Demonstrated ability to work across different cultures and with senior executives and leaders from private and public sectors
- Self-starting, team player with strong organizational and presentation skills, ability to prioritise real-time demands and execute independently
- Ability to thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint and recent digital platforms; knowledge of Salesforce a plus
