Your responsibilities

As a Survey Technician, you will be responsible for the metrology and alignment of Accelerator components.

In this role you will:

  • Align various magnets in the CERN accelerator complex, prepare survey reports, and update documentation;
  • Conduct metrology measurements during assembly of accelerator components using laser tracker technology;
  • Handle instrument calibration and periodic validation;
  • Perform measurements of tunnels and buildings using laser scanner technology;
  • Provide feedback to enhance survey procedures, methods, and software.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

  • Experience with high accuracy survey instruments like theodolites, total stations, optical levels;
  • Experience in Laser Scanning;
  • Basic exposure to compensation software;
  • Familiarity with laser tracker measurements;
  • Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Fluency in French, working knowledge of English is beneficial.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Survey, Geodesy, or Topography;
  • General secondary education diploma as the highest educational qualification;
  • No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract;
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree holders not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, extendable up to 36 months.

Target start date: 01-September-2024

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas;
  • Interventions in underground installations;
  • Valid driving licence;
  • Working nights, Sundays, and holidays when required.
