Since 2003, the Oslo Forum has grown to become the pre-eminent, agenda-setting retreat in the field of international peacemaking.

Co-hosted by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Oslo Forum regularly convenes conflict mediators, peacemakers, high level decision-makers and key peace process actors in a series of informal and discreet retreats.

Past participants have included John F. Kerry, Federica Mogherini, Kofi Annan, Juan Manuel Santos, Gerry Adams and Fatou Bensouda.

Oslo Forum events are complemented by Oslo Forum publications and podcasts that provide insights, guidance and thought leadership across a range of issues in conflict mediation and peacemaking.


The intern will be part of a small team working on the preparation and delivery of Oslo Forum events, and will assist with logistics, publications and reporting.


August - December 2023
Reporting to the Oslo Forum Project Manager, specific tasks may include:

  • Providing logístical support in the organisation of the event(s) (in relation to invitations, bookings, suppliers, local transport, and practical information for participants);
  • Helping to prepare and coordinate sessions during the event(s), including contributing to background research, and preparing briefing material;
  • Helping to prepare and coordinate publications associated with the event(s), including: research on potential content and authors; drafting and editing copy; proofreading; and liaising with authors, suppliers and HD colleagues;
  • Attending the Oslo Forum event(s) and supporting the team during the event;
  • Assisting with reporting requirements after the event(s); and
  • Supporting other Oslo Forum projects, and the wider Mediation Support and Policy team, as needed.
  • Interest in and awareness of international relations and armed conflict;
  • Prior experience in planning and organising complex events with multiple stakeholders;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; Good oral and written Arabic skills a clear asset; publishing and editing experience a clear asset;
  • Prior experience in a client or customerfacing role an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail; excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Resultsoriented; ability to multitask and work autonomously; and
  • Strong team spirit and enthusiasm.

  • If the internship is undertaken after the completion of an initial course of study (Bachelor's/ Master's degree) and is meant to help the intern choose a further course of study (Master's/ Doctoral degree) (an attestation from the second school will be requested);
