Overview


The External Manufacturing & Electronics Systems Category Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships of key third party suppliers to MedTech.

This individual will identify, develop, and direct the relationship, development and implementation of the supplier strategies as outlined by the Category Leads.

He/She will plan, direct and deliver against targets for financial performance, supply reliability across quality & service, and compliance adherence.


Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing:

  • Lead or support sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners, influence decisions, delivering ongoing value improvements while driving competitive advantage.
  • Develop spend analysis and gather market intelligence in alignment with business goals.

Category Strategy Development:

  • Develop and/or support the category sourcing strategy for the defined portfolio through Business needs assessment, Market intelligence, Supplier evaluations and sourcing choices.
  • Proactively engage business partners and/or Business Engagement Leads to identify needs and incorporate those needs into subcategory strategies.

Supplier Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Supplier Governance Framework, and lead supplier partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation.
  • Cultivate and use strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g. Internal partners, supplier leadership, BELs) to shape, optimize, and diversify the supply base.
  • Develop innovative and sustainable solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive longterm, endtoend value, and achieve unmet business needs. Identify and pursue opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.

Contracting:

  • Use procurement expertise and global business understanding to lead the negotiation and execution of contracts.
  • Ensure that agreements and the manner they are performed meet business demands of all collaborators and are aligned with the organization's overall procurement and business strategy.

Project Support:

  • Represent procurement in EndtoEnd Supply Chain initiatives of the manufacturing network, digital tools/technology adoption, and resiliency.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum Bachelor's degree and/or University degree required; focused degree in Business, Engineering, or a Science preferred. Advanced MBA degree preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.
  • Procurement experience or multiple fields of Supply Chain, inclusive of External Operations, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Distribution and / or related field.
  • Broadbased understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management, Category Management, Sourcing and Supplier Management experience required).
  • Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), influencing and collaboration skills are required. Must demonstrate effective communication across functional levels.
  • Individual must be a selfstarter with the ability to respond independently to complex problems.
  • Must have strong analytical problemsolving skills and technical proficiency.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Project management skills, with experience leading crossfunctional projects.
  • Business and general financial competence.
  • Effective negotiation and contract experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience within the Medical Device or highly regulated industry.
  • Strong industry and proven knowledge of electromechanical components (preferably used in medical devices) and related endtoend value chain.
  • Experience with Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools and methodologies, Green or Black Belt Certification.
  • CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP, Certification.
  • American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification.
  • Knowledge of sophisticated planning systems, such as ERP, MRP and SAP.

Other:

This position may require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel.
