Your responsibilities

Have you ever wanted to be part of the fascinating process at CERN where electronics are tested and qualified for use in the accelerators? If you enjoy challenges, consider joining CERN's Electronics Production and Radiation Tolerance section to unlock your potential.

You'll be part of the Electronics Production and Radiation Tolerance section (EPR) responsible for monitoring radiation effects on electronics in the CERN accelerator complex. Your role will involve enhancing system testing support, with a focus on component testing for the CHARM facility.

  • Oversee dosimetry for component testing to ensure accurate radiation dose measurement
  • Actively participate in supporting tests at the Co60 facility
  • Manage scheduling and facilitate facility access in accordance with security protocols
  • Play a crucial safety role as an authorized team member for irradiation area access

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge in radiation effects on electronic components and systems
  • Experience in dosimetry techniques and instrumentation for precise radiation measurement
  • Proficiency in electronic measurements and testing methodologies
  • Significant experience in setting up and supporting component tests in irradiation facilities
  • Skills in managing access and adhering to security protocols
  • Competence in data analysis for interpreting test outcomes
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English, French proficiency is advantageous

Eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality of a
  • Background in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field
  • Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or
  • PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience
  • No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract

Additional Information

Job closing date: at 23:59h (midnight) CEST

Contract duration: 24 months, with possible extension up to 36 months maximum

Target start date: 01-October-2024

  • Work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays
  • Work in Radiation Areas
  • Interventions in underground installations
  • Valid driving licence required
