Head of Risk

Our client is an international Commodity Trading group located in Geneva.


On behalf of our client, Swisslinx is looking for an experienced Head of Risk to be responsible for market, credit and operational risks as well as for managing the group hedging program.


Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining an integrated risk framework with policies and procedures
  • Identifying and analysing potential risks to the company and undertaking regular risk assessments
  • Performing various scenario analysis and stress testing
  • Creating a risk register and providing regular reporting to the management and board
  • Providing support and training to employees on risk management best practices
  • Setting up credit limits and determining counterparty risks
  • Managing market risks using ValueatRisk
  • Compiling P&L and reconciling MTM and positions with Front Office
  • Developing hedging strategies for the physical business in conjunction with traders and pricing derivatives (futures, swaps, etc.)
  • Investigating root causes of operational risks and provide support to mitigate risk
  • Participating in the implementation of an ETRM/Trading system
  • Reviewing regulatory documents and contributing to the management of compliance programmes

Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant quantitative field, such as engineering or mathematics but combining a general understanding of economics
  • Broad understanding of physical and financial energy trading
  • Extensive knowledge of the oil and metals markets
  • Knowledge of instruments traded in commodity markets including swaps, options, forward physical, and other complex instruments
  • Proficient user of Excel and relevant ETRM systems with ideally some coding knowledge
  • Handson attitude
  • Strong communication skills
