Are you passionate about using AI to solve challenging problems and drive innovation? Do you thrive in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment? Legartis is looking for a Lead AI / Head of AI to lead the development and implementation of AI solutions that are transforming the legal industry.

In this role, you will work closely with the CTO to align AI initiatives with the company's overall goals and objectives.


We are Legartis, a leading LegalTech startup that is revolutionising contract reviewing with the help of AI with our SaaS product.

Our talented, diverse team consists of over 35 people with backgrounds in product, software development, legal-engineering, machine learning, data science, marketing and sales.


Your mission:

  • Develop and implement the longterm strategy for the use of AI in our product together with the product team
  • Build and develop the AI architecture that is scalable and APIcentric
  • Evaluate and select appropriate AI technologies and platforms
  • Develop and architect solutions in text classification, document clustering, document zoning and segmentation, named entity recognition, search, information retrieval, and relation extraction
  • As a leader in AI, you will provide guidance and coach team members to ensure that they adhere to best practices in the AI space
  • Conduct research and stay uptodate on the latest developments and innovations in the field of AI
  • Work with external partners and vendors to incorporate AI technologies and tools into the company's products and services
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of our AI, and make adjustments as needed

Your profile:

  • Proven track record in AI research and development with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Strong understanding of machine learning, NLP, and other AI technologies
that learn from structured and unstructured data

  • Handson: Proficient scientific programmer, experience in Python (especially scikitlearn), and fluent in statistics and algorithms
  • Ability to think strategically and provide direction and guidance to the AI team
  • Fluency in English is required, German is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and take initiative
  • Plus: Experience with tools in (webbased) text annotation
  • Plus: Experience with NLP for the German language
  • Plus: Contributor to software products or research where ML & NLP played a major role, actively following latest ML & NLP trends
  • Tech stack: Python, django, pytorch, pandas, sklearn
  • Nice to have: typescript, Haskell, MLFlow, model analytics (captum, wandb)

  • We will review your CV to get an overview of your experience, skills, and qualifications.
  • We will have a 15minute call where we can discuss your background and get to know each other better. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the company or the role.
  • Next, you will have an indepth interview with our CTO and Product Manager Data. This will be an opportunity for you to showcase your technical skills and experience, as well as learn more about our company and your role
  • After the interview, you will participate in a technical challenge. This could be a coding exercise or a case study, and will give us a chance to assess your technical abilities in a more handson way.
  • Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet the team and get to know everyone you would be working with. This will be a chance for you to ask any remaining questions and get a sense of our company culture.
