The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) seeks a highly motivated person as Grant Manager.
IOB is a research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and develop new therapies for vision loss. It is a place where your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded.
As Grant Manager, you manage IOB's third-party funding from research grants and donations throughout their lifecycle.

You collaborate with internal and external partners, namely scientists, the fund-raising team and grant organizations, to ensure effective and compliant use of the research grants, build up market expertise, act as advisor for grant matters and manage all grant-related financial procedures.


Your position

  • Build strong customer relationships with grant organizations and third party funding institutions
  • Build up market expertise on existing and potential new grant sources
  • Ensure ongoing grantrelated invoicing and accounting in collaboration with the external accounting service and alignment with the University of Basel
  • Fulfil reporting and auditing requirements from grant/funding organizations/institutions according to their regulations
  • Ensure ongoing internal budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for research grants and third party funds
  • Monitor ongoing grant development and ensure effective and compliant use of third party money
  • Provide grantrelated advice and support to IOB's leaders, scientists and finance team
  • Develop and optimize tools to allow efficient processing and ensure process documentation

Your profile

  • Academic or commercial education in business economics (MSc, graduate auditor or equivalent)
  • Several years of experience in finance and preferably grant management
  • Strong ability to build and cultivate effective internal and external business relationships
  • An affinity for process optimization and automation
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, SAP FICO knowledge is of advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in English and German
  • Highly independent sociable person who has an organized, accurate and flexible work approach
