Head of Operations Training %):


In light of a reorganization of the entire training process for Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs), the Head of Operations (OPS) Training is responsible for the end-to-end training lifecycle and ensures the proper involvement of the operations in the overall ATCO training process.

This includes managing an organization of about 20 people in the training domain representing all operational units. The Head of OPS Training reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Executive Board Member of Skyguide.

Your responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor the entire training process from selection to license.
  • Supervise and support the students/trainees during the entire training progression.
  • Be accountable for the abovementioned process to the COO.
  • Establish and maintain a very close collaboration with the Skyguide Academy.
  • Promote and foster the "training for Success" spirit with the aim of bringing ATCO training success rate to at least 70%.
  • Manage the Operational Training Team (OTT) consisting of
  • Domain Managers Training of all operational units (DMTs)
  • Domain Manager Competence Training (DMC)
  • Business support
  • Represent training in the OPS Leadership Meeting (OLM).
  • Contribute to the working place allocation of trainees and take final decisions if required.
  • Decide together with the COO about possible "stop of training" decisions.
  • Participate in the selection process (EA3 & selection camp) including Assessor Board.
  • Participate, to the extent possible, in the initial training (Academy, Basic & Rating courses).
  • Finance:
  • Plan and set the budget in agreement with the COO.
  • Ensure the activities of the division remain within the forecasted budget.
  • Quality Management:
  • Manage corporate process management procedures and ensure continuous improvements.
  • Support audits within the unit and take appropriate corrective actions.

Your profile:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an air navigation service provider environment.
  • Preferably Air Traffic Controller background.
  • Preferably experience in ATCO training.
  • Fluent in English, French and German.
  • Strong leadership and willingness to lead and empower others.
  • Selfmanagement: resilience, selfawareness, and mobilization of own resources.
  • People management: communications, teamwork, development of employees and conflict management.
  • Performance management: analytical and conceptual thinking and problemsolving.
  • High level of mobility and readiness to travel within Switzerland.
  • Flair for negotiations, dealing with unions and regulatory authorities.
