PhD position in Discovery of novel biomarkers for chronic wound formation

In collaboration with Empa groups, the 'Multi-omics for Healthcare Materials' and 'Nanomaterials Spectroscopy and Imaging' groups are starting a multidisciplinary project to discover unique protein and metabolite biomarkers for early phases of chronic wound development. The project aims to design a precision, self-care integrated system to comprehensively understand, simulate, and monitor skin wound evolution for treating and preventing chronic wounds.
Your Tasks- Large-scale data analysis, programming, and statistical evaluation
- Implementing and developing workflows for biomarker identification from omics datasets
- Combining Raman spectroscopy and mass spectrometry-based proteomics with machine learning approaches
- Coordinating preparation of wound fluids and performing Raman spectroscopy measurements
- Activities coordination with project partners, including clinicians
- Preparing results for publishing and conference presentation
- Background in computational biology, physics, physical chemistry, or materials science
- Strong programming, statistical knowledge, and machine learning skills
- Excellent communication and proficiency in English
- Interest in clinically applied research and enthusiasm for experimental and computational work
Beneficial skill: experience with Raman spectroscopy
