Within our Laboratory Biomimetic Membranes and Textiles, we focus on developing innovative smart fibers, textiles, and membranes for applications in body monitoring, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. Our goal is to create physical and numerical models to analyze material interactions with the human body, enhancing the comfort, protection, and ergonomics of wearable systems.
Your Tasks- Simulate asymmetric and heterogeneous thermal exposures on the occupant
- Conduct systematic experimental studies using thermal manikins
- Design and execute human comfort trials
- Contribute to scientific publications and presentations
- Hold an MSc degree in mechanical, environmental, or biomedical engineering
- Experience in modeling and understanding of human thermal physiology
- Passionate about interdisciplinary research
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
This 4-year project will involve collaborative research with EPFL, offering the opportunity to earn a PhD degree from EPFL Lausanne. You will work at Empa in St. Gallen and benefit from a supportive team and a friendly work environment.
