About the team you are joining
The team that you will be joining is Sustainability and Economics. IATA is committed to achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
It is our team's mission to analyze all present and future solutions in order to advance aviation's energy transition in a holistic manner across sustainability and economics, and to assist our member airlines with their climate strategy.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is the main currently feasible solution for airlines to decarbonize, and a key focus of the team is to facilitate its ramp-up and provide assistance to our airline members in this domain.
We also research and analyze new technologies and potential solutions as well as their likely impacts on matters including costs, airline performance, competition, etc.
Our team promotes collaboration across the industry, our value chain, and our stakeholders through various platforms including the IATA Aviation Energy Forum which is the leading event for the world's aviation energy leaders.
What your day would be likeThe tasks and opportunities in this role include:
- Gain expertise regarding standards, requirements, and pricing of aviation fuel and SAF.
- Play a key role in coordinating the content of our Aviation Energy events.
- Support modeling for net zero CO2 solutions.
- Support impact assessment for nonCO2 solutions.
- Support the assessment of new solutions to enhance the industry's climate strategy.
- Organize and participate in meetings of different working groups and gain exposure to key stakeholders in aviation energy.
- Develop and maintain databases, covering SAF and other net zero solutions.
- Gain experience in presentation of assessments to airlines and other stakeholders.
- Gain experience in writing papers and producing infographics to summarize developments.
Working experience and proficiency in database development, modelling, and coding capabilities (such as R) would be an advantage.
Knowledge of techno-economic analyses applied to sustainable aviation fuels would be an asset.
Good analytical capabilities.
Good organizational, time management, and communications skills.
