ECOM USA, LLC is the US-based cotton sourcing and merchandising entity of the ECOM Group, a key player in the US cotton market with its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, actively involved in sourcing, storing, selling, and shipping cotton to clients nationwide and globally.

Specializing in a variety of cotton types like US Cotton Trust Protocol bales, GOTS-certified organic cotton, and Transitional Organic cotton certified by the Texas Department of Agriculture, ECOM USA stands out as an advocate of sustainability. In line with its commitment, the company was an early supporter of Better Cotton and recently earned the distinction of being the first cotton merchant to receive regenagri certification, offering third-party verified and certified cotton with full traceability from grower to mill through its branded line, Verde by ECOM.

ECOM USA is currently inviting proposals for contract work under the Climate-Smart Cotton Through a Sustainable and Innovative Supply Chain Approach program, sponsored by the USDA's Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant initiative. The project reference number is NR233A750004G043.

Contract Overview
To support this initiative, ECOM USA seeks a Sustainability Services Manager with a background in US cotton production, sustainability certifications, and marketing projects. The contract role involves driving project goals by developing markets for Climate-Smart Cotton and facilitating sales-related activities.

The Sustainability Manager will spearhead efforts to promote Verde by ECOM cotton to brands and retailers, foster collaborations with supply chain partners, and ensure alignment on certification programs and marketing strategies.

Location: New York City area or Eastern United States preferred

Type: Contract

  • Time Commitment: 20-40 hours per week
  • Must be a registered US entity or able to register as one by the project start date
  • Performance Period: July 2024 to May 2028 or project completion
Responsibilities:
  • Support Trade team in marketing Verde program cotton to brands and retailers, especially on the East Coast
  • Contribute to program design and strategy refinement based on supply chain interactions
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to create and distribute program informational materials
  • Coordinate supply chain activities, traceability requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in industry events, deliver presentations, and organize farm visits as needed
  • Provide training on sustainable practices and regulatory updates to commercial teams
Requirements:
  • 5+ years experience in environmental and sustainability programs within the apparel/textile industry
  • Proficiency in sales and export requirements for agricultural commodities in global trade
  • Strong communication skills in English, additional languages a plus
  • Experience with sustainability certifications and chain-of-custody programs like GOTS, BC, USCTP, regenagri
  • Deep understanding of apparel and textile sector, Climate-Smart Cotton farming practices
  • Passion for sustainability and driving positive industry change
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, data analysis, and problem-solving
  • Excellent organizational and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to represent the brand effectively and think holistically
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Proposal Format
Responses should not exceed 5 pages, including an introduction, relevant experience overview, and supporting documentation.
