Your responsibilities

Are you excited about linking CERN's scientific research with business opportunities? Do you have a strong interest in promoting the practical applications of CERN's expertise?

Join the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Group at CERN and play a key role in driving innovation, collaboration, and technology transfer in alignment with CERN's core research areas. As part of the Business Development & Entrepreneurship Section, you will be involved in establishing and managing technology partnerships with industrial and non-commercial organizations.

As a Knowledge Transfer Officer, your main tasks will include:

  • Scouting CERN Departments to identify technologies and assessing their potential societal impact;
  • Promoting CERN's technologies to external partners;
  • Contributing to the development of new communication and marketing strategies;
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders from industry, academia, and CERN spin-off companies;
  • Negotiating knowledge transfer agreements and supporting project management activities;
  • Having a desirable knowledge in fields such as Microelectronics, Product development, Innovation, and Market analysis.

Your profile

Required skills and experience:

  • Technical education or familiarity with CERN's technology domains;
  • Experience in Innovation management and project coordination;

Preferred experience:

  • Background working in scientific institutions;
  • Knowledge of microelectronics, detector market, business development, and forming industrial partnerships in high-tech settings;
  • Market analysis skills.

Required technical competencies:

  • Intellectual Property Management;
  • Technology promotion, marketing, and commercialization;
  • Knowledge transfer processes and tools;
  • Managing industry partnerships.

Behavioural competencies:

  • Effective communication;
  • Adaptability;
  • Self-management;
  • Teamwork skills.

Eligibility criteria:

  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;
  • Master's degree in a technical field with 2 to 6 years of experience OR PhD with a maximum of 3 years of experience after graduation;
  • No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 14 June at 12:00 AM (midnight) CET.

Job reference: IPT-KT-BD GRAP

Contract duration: 12 months, extendable up to 36 months.

Target start date: 01-July-2024

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs (net of tax).
