Job Description
Your responsibilities
The Industry, Procurement and Knowledge Transfer Department (IPT) is currently looking for a communications officer.
The main responsibilities of the role include implementing and reporting on the communication activities of European and knowledge transfer projects coordinated / managed by CERN.
Specifically, you will:
- Create and update communication and marketing material, as agreed with the Communication and Marketing Officer for IPT;
- Science and technology writing (news items, articles);
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the EU Projects Office as well as CERN Knowledge Transfer strategic communications plans;
- Create, implement and evaluate communication plans for events related to EU projects and other relevant IPT activities;
- Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of the EU Projects Office communication activities, including quarterly and project reports;
- Attend meetings related to EU projects;
- Create a network of contacts to support the generation, promotion and evaluation of communication activities;
- Keep abreast of the latest technologies to support an efficient communication;
- Share resources and assist with other communication and marketing activities in the IPT department, including work on annual reports.
Your profile
Skills and/or knowledge
- Experience in communication related to science, technology and innovation;
- Degree in Science Communication will represent an asset;
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in science, engineering, communication (or a related field) by the application deadline.
- Your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: at 23:59h (midnight) CET.
Job reference: IPT-EU-MS GRAE
Contract duration: 12 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Target start date: 01-May-2024
What we offer
- A monthly stipend ranging between 5119 and 5631 Swiss Francs (net of tax).

- Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
- 30 days of paid leave per year.
- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
