Global Director Indirect Procurement

The purpose of the Global Director Indirect Procurement position is to deliver value to gategroup through procurement initiatives and processes within a range of indirect sourcing categories (Professional Services, Assets and Technical products/equipment, HR, Facility Management, Travel, Fleet, IT and Procure to Order system and processes).


The position is expected, within the areas of responsibility, to actively drive the cost agenda through external as well as internal cost optimization programs.

Active demand management and striving for a high level of standardization play a pivotal role in the overall achievement of this agenda.


Execution of category procurement is to be based on robust and solid category strategies anchored and aligned within the functional business owners.


The position is the functional owner of the Procure-to-Order (P2O) process and is responsible for developing the process and its execution.

The position drives significant enhancements in terms of catalog buying and process automation through the utilization of modern technology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Management / Organizational Development
  • Set the direction and actively drive progress/performance
  • Shape bestfit Procurement Organization (local regional global shared service center)
  • Ensure optimal utilization of indirect resources across the organization
  • Indirect Category Management
  • Strategically develop and lead the indirect spend program
  • Execution (directly / overseeing) of indirect sourcing strategies
  • Lead change programs (e.g. P2O implementation, category setups, etc )
  • Communicate, cooperate, and involve relevant stakeholders in order to drive the overall indirect procurement strategy and tender pipeline
  • Procurement Finance
  • Manage Vehicles and other assets as a leasing house
  • Global responsibility for fleet replacement and input for CAPEX requirements
  • Tracking savings, project and function budget ownership
  • Negotiation and Supplier Relationships
  • Lead/support negotiations on key suppliers
  • Actively drive strategic partnerships with key players for indirect categories
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement cost savings opportunities
  • Drive actively demand management and implement standardization across indirect categories
  • Identification and implementation of best practices in processes
  • Drive the innovation agenda (e.g.
e-vehicles, connected cooking, etc ) together with the relevant stakeholders
Qualifications:

Education:

  • A higher commercial education equivalent to a Master's degree or similar

Work Experience:

  • Min 10 years of relevant commercial experience within all aspects of procurement focus on indirect categories on a regional and global level
  • Experienced in indirect sourcing strategy development and execution
  • Experienced project/program manager on a global scale
  • Experienced with P2O (setup/implementation / etc.)
  • People management (leading a team of leaders)
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders up to Clevel

Technical Skills:

  • The position requires experience and demonstrated competency in Business acumen, Leadership, Influencing, and Effective relationship building
  • Action-oriented, highly organized problem solver who enjoys challenges and working collaboratively-
  • An advantage to have SAP ARIBA or other P2P Software experiences

Language / Communication Skills:

  • Fluency in English, German an advantage
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and written skills are essential for the role
  • Experienced negotiator
