Purpose of Role

The British School of Geneva is seeking to recruit an outstanding Biology and / or Chemistry teacher on a full-time basis for the AY

Founded in 2005, The British School of Geneva offers the full English National Curriculum from EYFS through to A Levels to students of all nationalities and educational backgrounds.

Today, the school welcomes around 294 students from over 70 nationalities in its bright, spacious, built-for-purpose premises. The British School of Geneva is a day school only and employs approximately 50 teachers and administrators.

Key Responsibilities

Biology and Teacher:
Provision of scheduled Staff Duties, Form Tutor and After School Activities

The Science department comprises of 5 science specialist teachers and 1 laboratory technician. There are 2 Science laboratories, 1 specialist Science teaching room and a large, well equipped prep room.

The Science department runs regular supra-curricular activities to broaden the learning of our students.

Students in the upper school are encouraged to support our primary school students by running Science clubs and taster lessons.

The Science department fosters strong links across the Geneva area, including working closely with CERN and UNIGE on outreach programmes.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

The key professional and personal qualities required for this position are:

  • BSc. in Biology or Chemistry or both
  • Ability to teach A Level and GCSE Biology and / or Chemistry (Key Stage 4 and 5) with Pearson EDEXCEL OR equivalent.
  • The proven ability to contribute to and work effectively within a Subject department and broader staff community.
  • The proven ability to maintain accurate data, records and Curricular Schemes of Learning.
  • The proven ability to energise student learning and experience ensuring high level of student development and improvement.
  • A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with inhouse systems of recordkeeping.
  • A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
  • A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International child protection certificate or equivalent).
  • 2 written references from Referees.
  • A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland or residency in Switzerland or as a Frontailer.
