The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.


The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) is a multistakeholder platform hosted by the Forum that aims to eradicate plastic pollution.

It works through both a global and national platform, bringing together public, private, and civil society leaders to develop joint solutions to the plastic pollution crisis, which are both pragmatic and ambitious.


Why we are recruiting


The World Economic Forum is host to the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), which is a public-private collaboration platform to help translate political and corporate commitment to address plastic pollution into concrete action plans.

GPAP has been established in collaboration with the governments of Canada and United Kingdom, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the World Resources Institute, as well as businesses along the plastics value chain.

GPAP harnesses the convening power of the World Economic Forum to bring together governments, businesses and civil society to collaboratively identify and scale solutions to the issue of plastics waste pollution.

GPAP is building a global community of stakeholders from public sector, private sector and civil society.

Our communities operate at a global, regional, national and state level to support coordination of plastic action activities and drive impact on the ground.

Our national and sub-national multistakeholder platforms delivers strategic, science-based analysis that supports enhanced decision-making. They also provide the opportunity for strategic stakeholders to coordinate action and amplify impact.


The GPAP platform is designed to bring together a diverse and committed group of stakeholders and decision-makers, providing an opportunity to coordinate action, amplify efforts and catalyse impact to address the plastic waste and pollution crisis.

We are now seeking assistance to help us scale our growing national partnerships. This role will include programme management, impact measurement and operations support.

Reporting lines and interactions


The Community Coordinator will be based at the World Economic Forum's Geneva office, within the Global Plastic Action Partnership team, reporting to the National Platforms Lead.

Internally, this person will work with colleagues in GPAP, the broader Centre for Nature and Climate, as well as a wide range of other colleagues in Partner Development, Business Engagement, Regional Agenda and Programming teams.


Main responsibilities include:

NPAP Coordination – Africa and South Asia, including Pakistan and Maharashtra (50%)

  • Coordinate engagements between GPAP Secretariat and the NPAP Secretariats in Africa and South Asia to ensure continuous alignment and drive for impact.
  • Join weekly connects with each NPAP Secretariat.
  • Support project delivery including ensuring timelines are met key milestones of NPAPs.
  • Liaise with Forum's staff and leveraging intuitional networks and resources when needed.
  • Support the establishment and management on TopLink of NPAP communities.
  • Support NPAP related events planning, including integration with Salesforce and TopLink where required.
  • Support NPAP managers to engage with and build out NPAP communities and representing GPAP at ad hoc meetings when required.

Impact measurement and management (15%)

  • Collecting and uploading KPI data and capturing key announcements and highlights from all NPAPs and their work within each impact area
  • Developing quarterly IMM progress reports for each NPAP
  • Developing monthly strategic progress reports for the GPAP Steering Board
  • Supporting content development for NPAP sections of GPAP annual impact report

Operations (15%)

  • Driving the procurement process related to NPAP needs in compliance with the Grants and Forum's policies.
  • Working closely with NPAP host organisation to monitor agreed budget and support with contracting.
  • Working closely with GPAP Operations Lead and WEF Legal team to develop partnership agreements, including but not limited to Letters of Intent, Memorandum of Understanding with key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the GPAP Operations Lead with various tasks, including working with the Forum's legal and compliance teams, administering POs and other Salesforce procedures, managing engagements with the Accounts Payable team.

Global Treaty on Plastics and NAM tool deployment (20%)

  • Working closely with GPAP Tools Lead, support GPAP submissions to the treaty discussions and engage in events coordination around INC discussions to support GPAP goals related to such.
  • Support the GPAP Tools Lead in the delivery of the National Assessment and Measurement (NAM) tool in new countries.
  • Coordinate the delivery of baseline assessments and national action roadmaps working with external consultants and experts to support the GPAP Tools Lead to deliver at a high level across multiple geographies.

The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • Excellent organization and project management skills and ability to plan workflows to help internal and external teams meet deadlines.
  • Strong communicator who is passionate about sustainable development and environmental issues.
  • Ability to understand stakeholder needs and build relationships across cultures.
  • Team player, able to work with colleagues across the organization.

Preferred requirements

  • 23 years of relevant professional experience in project/program management or communications.
  • Demonstrated experience working within multistakeholder processes and publicprivate partnerships
  • Excellent event management and organizational skills
  • Excellent crosscultural verbal and written communication skills
  • Successfully juggling competing priorities, with shifting parameters, to deliver to the highest standards and to agreed deadlines;
  • Proactive, selfstarting, with a positive and constructive attitude towards getting things done
  • Good time management skills
  • English and Spanish fluently is required. Any other language is a plus.
