Cargo Assurance Specialist

Main Purpose:
The Cargo Assurance Specialist is in charge of loss/gain investigations, product degradation/remediation, Q&Q claims management, measurement, and overseeing induction training for operations staff.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of Petroleum loss investigations for all modes of transport
  • Technical and commercial expertise
  • Firm grasp of petroleum laboratory testing and test methods
  • Background in chemistry (certified or practical, analytical) and marine experience are advantageous
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage global third party relationships
  • Resolve issues with independent inspection, additive, and loss control companies. This includes annual rate negotiations, budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting (including collaboration with GST - Goods and Services Tax - in the invoicing process)
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as DTT - Digital Transformation Team, to acquire and leverage extensive data sources for optimal results
  • Establish and implement cargo assurance policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of cargo handling processes, facilities, and documentation for process improvement and quality assurance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address cargo security and documentation issues
  • Investigate incidents, discrepancies, and customer complaints related to cargo handling and develop preventive action plans
  • Provide training and guidance to operations employees
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of cargo assurance activities
