Mechatronics specialist with focus on LabView programming

Job Description

The job involves developing cutting-edge automated and robot-assisted experimental setups with a skilled team of researchers. You will primarily work on creating, improving, and managing LabViewTM programs for automating mechanical experiments, controlling devices, gathering data, and performing post-processing tasks. Additionally, you'll handle mechanical design and machining, as well as electronics-related duties. Some examples of tasks include:

  • Integrating components for automating mechanical experiments using LabViewTM
  • Designing and building testing equipment collaboratively
  • Performing daily operations and maintenance of equipment
  • Conducting on-the-spot mechanical machining when necessary
  • Handling material and parts orders and liaising with suppliers

Your Profile

As part of our innovative research team, we seek individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset who embrace continual learning and challenges. Requirements for education, certifications, and experience include:

  • Technical vocational training focused on Mechatronics/Electronics or higher education
  • 2-5 years of industry experience or similar
  • Preferably National Instruments CLD/CLA certification
  • Familiarity with automation techniques and robotic systems in experimental settings
  • Experience in acquiring, processing, and analyzing experimental data

Software and Programs

  • Proficiency in developing, maintaining, and debugging LabViewTM programs for hardware integration (2-5 years)
  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably Dassault SolidWorks

Mechanical and Hands-On

  • Experience in setting up and executing mechanical experiments, such as tension/compression tests
  • Basic machining skills for fabricating or modifying mechanical parts using CNC machines and other tools
  • Familiarity with bonding techniques like glueing and soldering strain gauges
  • Knowledge of designing electric switch cabinets
  • Familiarity with microscopes and specimen preparation

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English and proficiency in German (B1 level)
