**Position Summary

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of four Nestlé Institutes: Material Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences and Packaging Sciences.

As a
Data Science Specialist , ‎you will be responsible to deliver data science and statistical expertise for product development and food material science projects.

You will also propose and implement innovative data-driven concepts in different product categories plus create opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

**A Day in the Life of a Data Science Specialist

  • Join Nestlé R&D project teams to provide resultsdriven statistical, data science and mathematical expertise
  • Take the lead on data science related initiatives including goal setting, work planning (involving other functions) and targeted execution
  • Perform exploratory analysis of high dimensional datasets, features extraction and selection, statistical modelling and machine learning to identify useful patterns for product development
  • Evaluate trends for food product development and ingredient discovery with AI to propose proofofconcepts
  • Perform complex mathematical optimisation of food processing conditions and recipes that match consumer and business expectations (sensory quality, nutritional value, sustainability, affordability etc.) for all product categories
  • Visualize data, create digital tools and translate main results into relevant information for product development activities and communicate them to internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with key business stakeholders to identify business needs and promote added value of datadriven approaches
**What will make you successful

  • Master's degree or PhD in the field of Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Physics or related fields
  • Working experience in data science for product design (food or related consumer products) is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of modern data science techniques and technologies.
  • Knowledge of mathematical optimization and advanced statistics is a plus.
  • An interest in product design (food or related consumer products)
  • Strong communication skills in English with an ability to present your results to a nontechnical audience in a precise and concise matter
  • Open mindset and motivation to join crossfunctional teams and activities
  • Strong knowledge of either R or Python
