You will lead an industry-leading policy strategy to create an optimal policy environment to directly contribute to the success of key Novartis Cardiovascular portfolio assets showing showing deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical business model, healthcare systems, and political and economic environment to pro-actively design, implement and execute the shaping of the external environment to ensure fast and sustained access to innovation (strong focus on priority pipeline and launch products in key markets). Position Novartis as a trusted collaborator and partner, leading partnerships with healthcare system stakeholders (e.g., academics, policy and advocacy groups, professional societies, and payors) in partnership with Novartis cross-functional teams across global, regional, and key priority market settings.
About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement transformative policy solutions with focus on key brands and priority markets.
  • Champion Global Public Affairs customer- and HCS-centric perspectives across the enterprise, ensuring both a holistic policy and patient access strategy, and achievement of broader HCS goals.
  • Based on a strong external network, build policy partnerships and coalitions as required.
  • Provide policy thought leadership for Global Public Affairs led engagements that support healthcare system and policy change conducive to the Novartis portfolio.
  • Partner with the cross functional teams to prepare favorable market conditions for priority pipeline assets.
  • Provide insights in support of broader Novartis Corporate Affairs and cross functional workstreams, provide insights on business impact of broader corporate policy work/global public affairs.
  • Align and support implementation of deliverable with cross-functional advocacy partners, e.g., patient advocacy, Communications, Medical and Value & Access.

What you'll bring to the role:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Advanced degree in law, public health policy, health economics, political science or equivalent.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English.
  • Strong experience in policy or advocacy related roles, either in leading industry player or policy setting body such as government, IGOs, trade group, etc.
  • Extensive experience in healthcare related roles, preferably focused on pharmaceutical policy.
  • Must have experience in senior roles in global/product public affairs, market access or related positions in a multinational pharmaceutical company.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Highly preferred: Extensive knowledge of policy or advocacy related roles, either in leading industry player or policy setting body such as government, IGOs, trade group etc.
  • Fluency in at least one other major language in addition to English.
