Our client is a prominent international NGO, spearheading an innovative initiative focused on tackling worldwide environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues within the automotive sector and its expansive network. Since its inception in 2005, this CEO-led endeavor has played a pivotal role in commissioning impartial research, promoting industry-wide remedies, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to chart a course towards sustainability. Operating under the umbrella of a renowned global council dedicated to sustainable development, this initiative serves as a guiding light for systemic changes aimed at realizing a future marked by net-0 emissions, biodiversity preservation, and social equity.
Job Description
The Research Director will be an integral part of a dedicated secretariat team and collaborate closely with various stakeholders including representatives, facilitators, working groups, project managers, and external partners to ensure the completion of scientific research initiatives. The role involves overseeing the scientific research program, fostering engagement within the academic community, and focusing on issues related to human health and the environment, particularly those associated with the tire life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of research governance and demonstrate strong management and communication skills.
They will play a pivotal role in driving impactful and relevant scientific research initiatives while ensuring transparency and engagement across stakeholders.
The Successful Applicant
A PhD or MD in chemistry, toxicology, materials, chemical engineering, engineering or environmental sciences.Min. 10 years of working experience in management of research projects or scientific communication, in private sector or academia.Experience in managing or coordinating complex research programs either in the private sector or academic world with a wide range of stakholders.Global mindset coupled with hands-on experience working across geographies,Good communicator with a diplomatic approach, good listening skills and ability to find consensus and to gather around a common goalExperience in working and collaborating across time zones, with multiple cultures and languagesEnglish fluent is a must have. Japanese is a clear plus. German, Italian, French is a nice to have.Willingness to travel internationally (20%-30%)Ability to commute 2 to 3 times a week to the office either in Geneva or Amsterdam.Only candidates with EU work permit can be considered.
