Main Purpose of Role

The Senior Director of EPD Strategy will be tasked with defining growth objectives around portfolio, markets, and technology requirements, with shaping the organization for effectiveness and with ensuring sustainability of the processes and operating model defined under the first two objectives.

This individual would be responsible for structuring, building, and rolling out the strategy office and function across EPD. Key focus areas of the role would be on Growth Margin Improvement, Strategic Initiatives and Executive Communications support:

Growth Margin Improvement:

Driving Gross Margin Improvement beyond what we traditionally find (~90MM/year) by applying strategical, analytical/fact-based, and critical thinking to challenge how we make and deliver our products, with particular focus on product mix and manufacturing variances optimization.

  • Supporting affiliates with SG&A optimization and modernization of sales force model, using advanced analytics to optimize its deployment and efficiency.
  • Using advance analytics to lead internal and external cross-functional teams to assess optimal process and make recommendations around structure, operating set-up and ultimate end state.  The intent is to leverage internal learning and external good practices to define the journey.
  • Leveraging internal best practices across the three EPD business units of Emerging Markets, India and LATAM around SFE, Product Development etc.

Strategic Initiatives:

The Senior Director Strategy will lead ad-hoc strategic projects that address specific questions from senior leadership. Teams comprised of Business Analysts (strategy) and Advanced Analytics professionals – Mix dependent on problem (Ops, Marketing, etc).

Executive Communications support:

The role will also support EVP and Group President in defining and articulating strategy across the organization, creation of internal and external insights framework and preparation of BOD, Corporate Officers, ad-hoc for c-suite and executive briefing documents.

This role will work in a matrix across the BUs and support functions to enable a consistent and   structured approach and buy in from BUs, EPD and Corporate Sr. Management. This role will represent EPD interest with corporate functions such as: Procurement, AQR and IT.

Education

Graduate (in Engineering, Economics, Analytical Finance, Mathematics/Physics preferred) and MBA holder from reputable university/institute.

Experience / Background

  • Minimum 12 years of total experience with prior experience in driving collaboratively strategic projects with strategic conceptualization and articulation skills within a matrix environment.

  • Minimum of 4 years of strategy consulting experience within a leading multinational strategy and management consulting firm is required.

  • Pharma/healthcare background after or before consulting in Corporate Strategy, Strategic Operations or Marketing across Emerging Market

  • Previous expertise on global / operations network, procurement and continuous improvement is preferred.

  • Successful track record in gaining alignment with key stakeholders, ensuring speed and quality of execution in any cross regional or functional impact projects.
