Senior Property Underwriter (80-100%, hybrid, m/f/x)

About the Role


We are looking for highly motivated and result oriented senior property treaty underwriter to join our Globals EMEA & International Business.


You will play a driving role in meetings and negotiations with global and international clients and brokers, and you will build relationships with your clients' reinsurance departments and underwriters. 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluate and assess risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards and make underwriting decisions within your authority level for assigned treaties. 
  • Collaborate with other functions to drive, enable and steer the product strategy of the Property CUO office in strong cooperation with the market units. You will help build a balanced portfolio which we will jointly develop to deliver sustainable profits over the reinsurance cycle.
  • Lead discussions with clients to identify their motivation, needs and priorities. You will develop innovative reinsurance solutions and transactions, using the full range of our capabilities.
  • Creation and execution of its product strategy, as well as collaborating, steering, and enabling business underwritten within the relevant Market Units.

 

About the Team


Our team is based in Zurich and consists of an international underwriting team. You will join a multifaceted and collaborative environment. Our Globals clients are headquartered all over Europe and we interact with the highly dynamic International Business market in London and Bermuda. 


The deals we write in our portfolio range from country-specific treaties to worldwide solutions with broad coverage. As a result, you will collaborate with other lines of business, facultative underwriting, offices abroad and structured reinsurance. 


About You

 

The ideal candidate is a great team player, willing to learn and work with an international team in a global organization. 


Must haves: 

  • You have earned a university degree (Master or equivalent), preferably with a quantitative, scientific or economic focus.
  • You have at least 5 years of underwriting experience and have demonstrated strong project management skills in complex business settings.
  • It is vital that you have an intrinsic motivation and like to take ownership: your manager empowers you and does not intend to micromanage you.
  • You have a solid understanding of contractual wordings.
  • Your English is proficient, additional languages like German, French or Spanish are a plus.

  • Portfolio steering experience
  • Natural catastrophe modeling experience
  • Financial acumen
