The Position

As an IT Infrastructure Manager (m/f/x) you are part of the senior IT infrastructure management and take responsibility for the Swiss IT infrastructure team. You will report directly to the Service Delivery Manager for Switzerland & Germany. You ensure smooth operations for all Swiss business units such as supply/ trading, wholesale/ marketing, terminals and refineries by controlling the entire IT infrastructure. This includes operations, security, project delivery, reporting and development of staff and processes to ensure the highest level of service to the overall VARO group. In addition, you will advise the company on IT-relevant issues. In day-to-day business, you will lead the 6-person IT team and work with the HR department on personnel matters. Within Switzerland this position will also be required to coordinate new acquisitions and integrations of services in a secure and stable manner. This positions will be the main contact for all IT Infrastructure topics in Switzerland in all lines of businesses and acts as the regional security officer in Switzerland. Furthermore provide management towards external partners regarding all IT infrastructure related topics, and cooperate with the global Infrastructure team, drive IT infrastructure continuous improvement and innovation.

Your key responsibilities
  • Manage high-quality IT services for our business areas through close collaboration with senior management
  • Budget responsibility for the IT infrastructure area in the Swiss organization
  • Implementation of group-wide IT infrastructure standards
  • Technical and disciplinary management of the Swiss IT infrastructure team as well as implementation of HR processes such as target agreements
  • Implementation of local and global IT infrastructure projects
  • Implementation of all IT security standards as well as reporting of violations and threats
  • Management of selection processes for system implementations, coordination of external service providers and development of business cases
  • Act as an interface for communication and coordination between the departments and IT for all local IT infrastructure issues
  • Implementation of the department's requirements for operational and strategic IT business
  • Ensuring coherent coordination between infrastructure and application development in close coordination with Senior IT Management
  • Ensuring compliance, achievement and continuous improvement of service levels and service agreements
  • Creation and documentation of a regular target/ actual analysis of the contribution of the current IT landscape to the company's success as well as the need and potential for improvements as well as further reporting
  • Creating and editing project applications and change requests
  • Definition and control of the relevant IT resource use in local and company-wide projects
  • Vendor Management for all locally provided services
Your profile - Essential knowledge, skills & abilities

• At least 5 years of management experience in a comparable position, e.g. with a strong background in the operation and implementation of IT infrastructure projects

• Ideally industry background with and experience in a company and systems in the downstream oil business (trading, refinery, etc.) or in the energy sector in general

• Experience as a line or senior project/ program manager in complex IT landscapes and with international team members

• You have the ability to communicate in an authoritative, friendly and clear manner and combine this with an integrity, confident and winning manner

• You are experienced in leading teams

• You see IT as an internal service provider and partner for the business

Other essential  requirement

• A results-oriented and entrepreneurial “hands-on” mentality

• The ability to work independently, organized and disciplined as well as resistance to stress in a varying market environment

• Take initiative and proactively take on responsibility

• Good comprehension and analytical thinking to further optimize our processes

• Can communicate at all levels appropriately

• Good organizer who sets the right priorities

• Willingness to travel nationally on a very regular base and internationally on an occasional base

• Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, and German and/ or French is a strong benefit

Qualifications

• Bachelor or similar standard in a similar working environment

• Relevant technical training and certifications

• Working knowledge of Microsoft working environment (Windows, SCCM, M365) and additional experience in VMWare Horizon, Cisco networking/ Webex/ Calling, Active Directory, mobile phone (iPhone, MobileIron, etc.) and security technologies

• Knowledge of ITIL processes, preferable within ServiceNow
