Stability analysis on hydro turbine flowWe are offering a challenging position as a full-time (100%) PhD Student at Mechcniacl Engineering department EPFL, Lausanne. Our lab is focused on numerical simulation and stability analysis on rotating flow and fluids dynamics linked to hydropower.MissionThe mission of the PhD student is to develop and perform stability analysis on the flow around the hydro turbine.In addition, she/he will participate teaching activity. Presenting the work in international/national level conferences is also part of the mission.Main duties and responsibilitiesAs a PhD Student, you will be expected to:Have full responsibility for your own dissertationResearch in close collaboration with industry partnersWrite scientific articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals;Present at international conferences.Supervise student projects and basic administrative supportMore specifically, within this project, you will:Work on CFD modeling of turbine flowPerform a stability analysisDevelop and implement advanced numerical methods in-house codePossibility on conducting experiments for validation purpose in collaboration with test platform scientistsProfileA MSc degree in the fields of Mechanical Engineering/Applied MathematicsTurbomachinery and CFD toolsProgramming languagesGood communication skills and willingness to work as part of a teamEnthusiasm, scientific curiosity, eager to learn, good organizational skills, rigor in experimental workWe offer4 years to complete your PhD with a competitive remunerationAn opportunity to develop a scientific career in both industry and academicA world-class research and training environment with access to state-of-the-art research facilities;A multi-cultural and stimulating work environmentsInformationsYour application should contain:Motivation LetterDetailed CVContact informationAt least 2 references willing to write a recommendation letter.
