Geneva College invites applications for a Chemistry Lab Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The position begins in August of 2024 and will remain open, until filled.

A Vita/CV Unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts (official copies will be required before being appointed)Summary of Responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced Chemistry Laboratory Adjunct to join our Chemistry team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and mentoring students in the laboratory setting. Responsibilities include preparing for laboratory experiments, providing guidance to students on lab techniques and ensuring a safe laboratory environment. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemistry concepts and be able to effectively communicate with students. Strong organizational skills and a commitment to promoting a safe learning environment are essential.
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
Teach assigned contact hours per semester. Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course). Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines. Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting. Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect. Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines. Respond to student questions on a timely basis. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.Specific Responsibilities:

General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job. Physical: Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones. Minimum: Education/Certification : Must have a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, education (with science emphasis) or a closely related field. Experience: Laboratory experience. Skill/Abilities: Experience making laboratory solutions. Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christians and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work. Preferred: Education/Certification: PhD is preferred. Experience: Previous experience teaching chemistry laboratory and using a Learning Management System (LMS). Skill/Abilities: Curriculum development is preferred.-
