Summary of Responsibilities: The Editorial Manager will be responsible for the development and production of high-quality published material, print and electronic, with supervision and under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communication. This includes managing and gathering stories published on the Geneva College website, serving as the Editor for the Geneva Magazine, publication of the annual President's Report, and contributing to the Geneva Blog. This position will also be the primary keeper of the Geneva College Style and Formatting Guide. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communication, the Editorial Manager may contribute to the writing and/or editing of other written content as needed/available, such as admissions materials, press releases, or other written publications.

Implement communication priorities: Work with the Director of Marketing and Communication to determine priorities for the various departments and programs, identify projects and consistently manage them while reporting progress to involved parties, specifically related to internal communications. Using the team project management system and working with the Marketing Team - work to assign and manage any written pieces. Share the Geneva story: Serve as editor of Geneva Magazine, Annual Report, and other publications as needed. Plan, research, format, write, assign, and edit the stories and blogs for the College. Strive for content to be well-written, interesting and error-free. Provide editorial and direction services to other departments for publications and collateral material. Gather news for Geneva promotion: Seek and recommend editorial topics for news releases, web articles, profile pieces, blog posts, etc. Assist in the copy creation of the blogs to help with the external marketing efforts. Consistently communicate with faculty and staff to gather input regarding Geneva's newsworthy people and events. Contribute as a valued team member in Marketing and Public Relations: Participate in Marketing Department activities as deemed necessary. Miscellaneous: Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements - Administrative:

General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job. Physical: Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones. Confidentiality: Individuals must recognize that management of data, including personal information, grades, budgets, programs, and policies is necessary to the operation of the College. Such information must be kept private and confidential for the protection of the College and to obey Federal and/or State laws. Should there be doubt as to whether a certain matter is to be protected, it should be discussed with your supervisor before making a disclosure. Mental: Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, writing or a related field. Experience: Must have worked in an office setting in the field of marketing or communication for one to three years and had electronic or printed content published. Skill/Abilities: Must be excellent in communications, both oral and written. Must have current working knowledge of office software. Must have excellent project management and organizational skills. Must work well with others, be a team player and be able to multi-task. Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work. Preferred: Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or a related field from Geneva College. Experience: Three to five years in a writing, editing, or publishing role, preferably in higher education. Professional experience in project management and/or employee supervision. Skill/Abilities: Understand and be able to communicate the benefits of a Geneva College education to multiple audiences.
