In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of all facilities projects for their designated site. The chief goal in supporting this mission is to deliver high quality services ensuring continuous improvement, added value, increased productivity, and cost efficiencies. This position will work in close collaboration with the site Sr. Facilities Manager and network of EMEA Project Managers to ensure consistency of deployment across the sites while supporting diverse business needs. The position will also collaborate with EHS teams ensuring the sustainability and health & safety principles necessary to meet and exceed the company EHS targets and goals are met. Develop and manage site CapEx projects ensuring alignment with local and regional strategic plans, this will include site maintenance, break fix and growth activities. Monitor and control project budgets to ensure controlled and consistent capital spend with reliable cashflow forecast.

Manage Project Requirements:

Chair meetings as and when necessary, in order to obtain the relevant information on when to formulate plans for new projects. Dependent on the size and cost implication of the project, the post holder may run these meetings on his/her own.

n order to meet the company’s growth potential, the Facilities Department is required to visualize future areas of growth and design possible solutions to problems. This requires the individual to be able to exercise their talent for finding answers to problems.

Lead the Capital Investment Programme

To review systematically a possible project into its constituent parts and formulate costs for both labor and material. This will require a degree of knowledge about the mechanical and electrical services processes involved.

As and when necessary, to liaise with external organizations in order that the correct documentation is prepared and submitted to obtain approval for specific requirements.

Drive the Procurement Process

The post holder will be able to undertake drawing office work to an acceptable standard on their own initiative, to such a level that contractors can transfer the information contained in the drawing to produce a finished item.

The post holder should be able to convey the requirements shown on a drawing into a list of tasks that a contractor is required to undertake to produce the finished item. In doing so, the individual should use their own knowledge to support this requirement with detail specifications outlining all the materials to be used.

To be responsible as an individual or as a member of a team for the compiling of the necessary documentation, laying out the terms and conditions on which projects will be offered to contractors.

As and when competitive tendering may be used, tender analysis documentation will be carried out identifying the various estimates of work and comparing one contractor with another. The post holder will judge the benefits on offer and advise the Facilities manager accordingly.

Oversee Project Works

During the course of construction of any works, the post holder will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the works, to ensure compliance with the specification, tender documents and quality of workmanship.

As and when instructed, the post holder will arrange the formal setting up of site meetings to monitor the progress of works being undertaken. At these meetings, notes will be made in the form of Minutes identifying the current state of the project, additional information required and cost statement.

The post holder will have financial control of any project assigned to them. They have the authority to authorise payment for work carried out. They will be required to ensure the costs do not exceed budgets previously agreed.

An important part of this post is to maintain site records in relation to building services, drawings, manuals and other relative information. This will require a degree of self-motivation to go out and systematically survey the existing site and check the information obtained with that already held

Maintain and develop project team competency

It is an essential part of the post that a good working knowledge of the relevant regulations concerning building services can be demonstrated, so that interests of the company are protected.

To be able to demonstrate a wide understanding of building design practices as applied to mechanical and electrical engineering, so that you may converse with contractors in order to obtain the best and most economic answers to our construction schedules. An understanding of “Fast Track” construction methods is essential.

In consultation with colleagues in the department, share the responsibility of maintaining a technical library for use by all in order to assist in the development of plans and strategies for new projects.

Support the Wider FM team

Part of the duties required of the post holder is to provide technical support on a day to day basis to the Maintenance Coordinator or trades persons. It is essential that a good knowledge of both practice and theory can be shown when offering advice on problems. This support may have to be provided out of normal working hours in the event of site emergencies.

as part of the site facilities team the position might be requested to intervene outside working hours to provide support to the site management and maintenance team in case of major site crisis, breakdowns or of unexpected events related to in flight project.

An understanding of how energy conservation can be applied to building service installation, in order to provide the company with cost savings that have economic pay back periods.

To prepare and submit monthly reports to the Management on all aspects of work being undertake.

What we’re looking for   

Facilities Project Managers are the most successful at Labcorp with:

Bachelor of Science HES-SO in Energy and Building Technology ( Technique des bâtiments) or equivalent.

Min 12 years of experience in facilities industry.

Min 10 years of project management experience in the construction field. (can be included in the 10 years of experience listed above).

Min. 5 years technical experience in Heating, Cooling and Ventilation (can be included in the 12 years of experience listed above).

Excellent spoken and written French and intermediate level in English.

Pragmatic, highly structured and problem solving oriented.

Effectively leverage data to improve performance and drive decisions.

Vision and sound judgment of site capabilities, occupancy and opportunities .

Robust skills interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks.

Ability to simultaneously balance and adjust to multiple changing priorities and make decisions with speed, discipline, and accuracy.

Act as a creative problem solver willing to listen, adapt and lead teams through complex situations and competing priorities.

Computer savvy with emphasis on Autocad, MS Office, Smartsheet and willing to learn new applications including SharePoint Enablon, Spotfire, Tableau etc. as directed.

Builds and cultivates strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

Agile and self-directed, self-motivated, reliable, and persistent
