Time commitment: Full time role (80% or 90% could be considered for the right candidate) Location : London based, with frequent travel to Geneva (other locations explored for the right candidate) Salary : Between 79’346 GBP and 90’682 GBP Start Date: 1st July or later

Join the CHS Alliance as Deputy Director, where you’ll lead our team and oversee various aspects critical to our mission.

You will play a key role in an energetic organisation influencing the sector towards greater accountability to people affected by crisis through the take up of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS). Bring your expertise to help us deliver on our mission

CHS Alliance is a global network of more than 200 organisations, its members united in their ambition for shifting the aid system for greater accountability to people in crisis, through delivering on the commitments made in the Core Humanitarian Standard.

With a growing membership, and increasing uptake from national actors, the Alliance is seeking new and innovative ways to create greater engagement and learning amongst its members and to broaden and diversify its strategic partnerships with donors and other key stakeholders.

To help navigate the next chapter, the Alliance is seeking an experienced senior leader to work closely with the Executive Director to enhance the impact of a small, dynamic secretariat team. This new role will be instrumental in building the organisation’s profile, delivering on the strategic objectives and securing sustainable funding. The person will be responsible for guiding strategy, planning and resource processes, that bring new levels of success for the organisation. They will connect the various programmatic ways of working including on quality assurance and impact, capacity support and country level engagement.

The ideal candidate is dynamic, solution-focused and skilled at creating collaborative ways of working to build connections across teams. They will bring their experience from the aid sector, along with a good understanding of the needs and challenges currently facing the sector. Knowledge or experience in self-managed teams is an advantage to enhance collaborative ways of working.

The role requires someone with outstanding communication and leadership skills, who can identify the opportunities for the Alliance. We are looking for someone with a strong organisational development background, who can operate on strategic, managerial and hands-on levels, bringing a strong “can-do” attitude. The Deputy Director must be able to role model embodying the CHS in their ways of working.
