DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Working across the three levels of WHO, build effective partnerships and enhance relationships with key partners including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, by: Providing strategic advisory and collaboration services to WHO colleagues for engagement with technical partners, including as related to partner governance processes. Proposing and developing new approaches and strategies for implementation of the partnership engagement. Supporting the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the priority partnership work through key performance indicators, reporting requirements, and mechanisms to optimize performance of Unit deliverables. Gathering timely intelligence on partner priorities, policies, budgets, funding trends and opportunities. Convening high level dialogues and/or briefings with key partners, contribute to the development of future collaborations. Advising and supporting WHO leadership in meetings with partners. Ensuring relevant standard operating procedures are properly adhered, developing new procedures as required. Performing all other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education


Essential
: An advanced university degree (Master's level or above) in public health, medicine, international relations, business administration, communications, social sciences, or related field relevant to the position.

Desirable
: Professional certification or other specific training in partnership.


Experience


Essential
:

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the areas of management of partnership building, external relations, and/or health policy and strategy. Proven experience in building and influencing complex multi-stakeholder partnerships, and in planning and coordinating multi-stakeholder convenings. Considerable experience in writing and editing, particularly in the context of donor reporting/relations and in developing messaging for advocacy purposes. Considerable experience working with and/or influencing funding systems, donor organization and decision-makers. Experience working with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and other significant immunization partner organizations. Experience in grant management and administration processes.


Desirable
:

Experience in the UN system.


Skills

Strong skills in public health, external relations, resource mobilization, management, and strategic partnership building. Ability to engage and communicate effectively and diplomatically with external partners including ministries of health, donor institutions, Civil Society, and other stakeholders. Commitment to collaborate effectively with other key partners. Ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of partners, engage partner interest, create and maintain longstanding trusted relationships. Sound level of judgement, responsibility and initiative. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to identify and act on opportunities in a complex and competitive resource environment and work effectively within the evolving context of philanthropic organizations and networks. Ability to communicate credibly, diplomatically, and persuasively with key stakeholders inside WHO. Knowledge of public health sector and WHO's role within the global health architecture. Ability to maintain perspective under pressure. Outstanding project management skills, able to implement a proactive, structured and timely approach and also able to adapt to organizational or contextual changes. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills; able to present and explain complex ideas and information in a succinct, logical way that is easy to understand key decisions and critical information for programme management. Strong skills in initiating, developing and implementing strategies. Excellent skills and ability to managing and oversee financial resources. Strong representation skills and politically astute. Ability to make informed and strategic recommendations to senior management. Strong capacity to manage multiple competing demands and meeting deadlines and timelines with efficiency. Highly motivated individual capable of influencing and taking initiative.
