mimic is an early stage deep tech robotics & AI start-up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. Our automation solutions, driven by dexterous robotic hands and cutting edge AI trained on human observations, bring a new level of AI embodiment to the real world.We offer a variety of topics for internships and master's/bachelor's thesis or semester projects for students across engineering and computer science disciplines. Next to exciting research opportunities you will have the chance to gain unique insights in building and scaling a high-tech start-up within the evolving generative AI & robotics space. After submitting your application we will get in touch with you to find a suitable research topic.RequirementsEnrolled Bachelor's or Master's student in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Proficiency in at least several of the following technical topics:For robotics/hardware projects: C++, ROS, ROS2, PCB design, actuation & controls, sensing, CAD design, FEM simulations, 3D printing, silicone castingFor AI projects: Python, deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, JAX, TF, etc), machine learning, deep learning, imitation learning, computer vision, reinforcement learning, robot simulations (Mujoco), large language models, multi-GPU trainingExcellent academic track recordHigh motivation and problem-solving abilityCapable of both working independently and collaborating in a teamFluent English speakerNice to haveFirst experience from internships or research projectsAt mimic you will have the opportunity to shape a robotics & AI company from the ground up.
