Overview:As a Data Engineer at our Switzerland-based, 100% remote team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for our data-driven organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and accessibility of high-quality data for analytical and operational purposes.Key Responsibilities:Azure & Microsoft Tooling: You'll work hands-on with a broad range of Microsoft and Azure tools, including Azure primitives, Entra ID, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Power BI / Fabric (dashboards, datasets, incremental refreshes, DAX). Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating with diverse data sources is essential, and a strong working knowledge of Kafka is highly valued.Data Architecture & Optimization: You'll lead the rearchitecting of daily data loads, addressing our accumulated technical debt by improving slowly changing dimensions, historization processes, and optimizing data storage by removing unnecessary duplicates. You will design robust, scalable data solutions that help drive business intelligence forward.High-Impact Business Intelligence: Our data-driven leadership relies on you to enhance the current Management Dashboard from version 2.0 to version 5.0 within the next 12 months. This will involve optimising data visualizations, refreshing dashboards, and expanding data capabilities to empower top-level decision-makers with critical insights.Trusted Advisor: Work closely with key stakeholders, particularly senior management, to translate vague or evolving business needs into concrete, actionable data solutions. You'll need strong advisory and mentoring skills to guide the business through its data transformation, often helping leaders uncover what they really need from the data.Required Qualifications:Strong Azure & Microsoft Expertise: Extensive experience in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Power BI, Fabric, SQL Server, and cloud technologies (Azure). Experience with REST APIs, Kafka, and diverse data integration techniques is a must.Data Engineering & Warehousing: Hands-on experience in data architecture, especially within Azure, with a proven track record of managing ETL/ELT processes, handling large datasets, and optimizing data pipelines.Business Intelligence Mastery: Ability to design and optimize complex reporting solutions with tools like Power BI. Experience with DAX, data sets, and incremental refresh strategies is essential.Technical Debt Management: Experience with rearchitecting systems and addressing technical debt, specifically focusing on slowly changing dimensions and data historization.Soft Skills: A proven ability to listen and interpret user needs, especially when working with top-tier management. You are an effective communicator, trusted advisor, and mentor.Preferred Skills: Expertise in T-SQL and Python for scripting and data manipulation, experience with dimensional data modeling, and domain experience in finance. Familiarity with blockchain and cryptography is a plus.
