Key ResponsibilitiesTrading Operations: Execute physical commodity trades across West African markets, managing the full trade lifecycle from origination to deliveryMarket Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities and assess market risksRelationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders across West AfricaBusiness Development: Analyze regional physical market dynamics, identify key market players and implement strategies to expand the company's presence and opportunities.Risk Management: Monitor and manage trading positions, hedging ensuring compliance with risk limits and company policiesLogistics Coordination: Oversee logistics operations including shipping, storage, and delivery of commoditiesContract Negotiation: Structure and negotiate complex trading agreements and contractsMarket Intelligence: Provide market insights and intelligence to support strategic decision-makingTravel: Regular travel to West African markets to develop business relationships and oversee operationsEssential RequirementsExperienceMinimum 2-3 years of experience in commodity trading, physical trading, or related fieldsPost-graduate program experience preferredPrevious exposure to West African markets is highly advantageousLanguage SkillsFluent in French and English (speaking, reading, writing)Portuguese language skills are a strong plusAbility to communicate effectively across diverse cultural contextsTechnical SkillsStrong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in commodity trading fundamentalsUnderstanding of risk management strategies and their application in commodity marketsKnowledge of logistics operations and supply chain managementProficiency in trading systems and market data platformsAdvanced Excel skills and familiarity with trading softwarePersonal AttributesEntrepreneurial mindset with ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunitiesExcellent communication and negotiation skillsStrong teamwork abilities and collaborative approachAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentCapacity to make informed decisions under pressureDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsWillingness to travel extensively within West Africa
