Established in December 1950, UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for asylum seekers, refugees, returnees, internally displaced communities, and stateless people. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and persecution. UNHCR currently operates in over 130 countries, using its long expertise to protect and care for millions.
The Division of Emergency and Programme Support is responsible for providing strategic direction, support, and oversight to regional and country offices in relation to emergency preparedness and response, programme, supply chain management, and the security of staff and persons of concern.
DEPS seeks to hire an intern to support the emergency deployment and partnership workstream.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and analyze deployment and partnership data

• Research UN and partner publications relevant to emergency standby partnership mechanisms

• Assist with the development and drafting of the Standby Partner Annual Report

• Participate in Standby Partnership Network meetings and in bilateral discussions with partners

• Support the review and update of operational guidance/information for partners and operations

• Participate in emergency-related operational meetings as appropriate

• Ad hoc tasks as per the section's needs and the intern's interests

Essential Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience Required

• Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field

• Strive to live up to high ethical and professional standards

• Excellent knowledge of English (written, oral and comprehension)
