Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator Operates a stand-up electric forklift to move pallets of merchandise and equipment around the warehouse. Disposes the pallets at the right place following the department's security and safety procedures.

• Completes daily forklift safety checklist and follows safety procedures. Ensures all truck wheels are chocked, reports if not. Charges forklift batteries up to battery changer.
• Ensures people keep safety distance with operating forklift. Ensures to signal position at aisle crossings.
• Transfers merchandise from the receiving area to the steel shelves and bulk wall for storage or directly to the shop floor.
• Moves pallets of merchandise from the steel shelving and the bulk wall to the sales area using stand-up electric forklift based on written list, verbal instruction and observation of low stock.
• Removes empty pallets from the shop floor using a stand-up electric forklift. Stack empty pallets outside near receiving area.
• Communicates with shop floor manager to set priorities and determine product placement.
• Wraps pallets in plastic film with a product tag prior to disposing on steel shelves.
• Assists with stocking, removes sales floor debris, observes and ensures correct product signage. Tags unmarked product with its item number.
• Provides prompt and courteous service.
• Ensures proper cleanup of hazardous material spills.
