We're now supporting one of our portfolio companies, a well-funded ETH spin-off on a mission to give people and developers full control over their smartphones. They are setting a new industry standard for the smartphone software stack - one that offers strong security without compromising usability. Their first industry deployments enable organizations to install and fully control their own OS on a phone, running in parallel with vanilla Android. This brings, for the first time,
independence, freedom, and privacy from big platform providers on a fully functional device.

Your role

Your work will span from system architecture to low-level firmware and kernel development. You will tackle hard technical challenges and work at the hardware/software interface on smartphones. You'll collaborate with leading experts in computer security, embedded systems, and systems engineering to build a new smartphone software stack
initially
designed for the most security-sensitive industries (e.g., governments, intelligence agencies, financial institutions).

In particular, you will:

  • Develop low-level system code that redefines how hardware is managed on modern smartphones
  • Work at the intersection of firmware, the Linux kernel, and AOSP on smartphones
  • Contribute to and improve the development and testing infrastructure, including CI systems.

Your profile

  • Proficiency in low-level and embedded programming (C, Assembly, C++, Rust, …).
  • A solid understanding of system programming (Linux kernel, AOSP, OS internals, drivers, compilers, debuggers).
  • High standards for code quality and maintainability.
  • A BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Fluent English skills, spoken and written.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • A builder, not just developer, someone who loves solving complex system-level challenges and want to take ownership from day one.
  • A Software / Systems Engineers with strong knowledge of programming (Linux, AOSP), embedded or security systems, and/or are familiar with CPU and system architectures (e.g., have looked up before at a ARM/Intel architecture manual).
  • An engineer who enjoy turning academic research or prototypes into scalable real-world solutions.
  • Someone who thrives in early-stage, high-impact environments, where creativity, independence, and curiosity matter more than job titles.
