Senior Project Manager

You will lead the design delivery of some of the most complex and high-profile data centre projects in Europe, working from our Zürich office with strong support from international Haskoning experts. This role offers real end-to-end responsibility, close client interaction, and the opportunity to shape and grow our Mission Critical Facilities business in Switzerland.

What you will do as a Senior Design Project Manager (MCF/ Data Centres)

As Senior Design Project Manager, you are responsible for leading and delivering complex design-led data centre projects within our Mission Critical Facilities team. You manage large internal multidisciplinary design teams, act as the primary client interface, and take full ownership of the design process from concept through delivery, ensuring technical excellence, programme certainty, and strong client relationships.

• Leading and coordinating large internal, multidisciplinary design teams throughout all design phases;
• Acting as end responsible Project Manager within a design consultancy environment, from concept to completion;
• Managing clients, subconsultants, and third-party stakeholders, with a strong focus on long-term relationships;
• Overseeing the design process to ensure quality, technical integrity, and alignment with project objectives;
• Controlling programme, budget, risks, and overall project performance to ensure successful delivery.

As our new Design Manager (MCF/ Data Centres) you will become part of the team Mission Critical Facilities (MCF). This team provides consultancy services for data centre clients and includes professionals from various fields such as engineering, construction, and architecture. The team works on integrated designs for data centers and has completed various projects. Working with this team means joining a leading market and a dedicated and passionate team. You will be employed by NEXT Haskoning Switzerland AG, the collaboration between local Swiss firm Confirm AG and Haskoning.

What you bring

This role requires a confident design-focused Project Manager who can lead complex projects through influence rather than hierarchy. You combine strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary design teams, manage demanding clients, and make clear decisions in technically complex environments. You are comfortable taking end responsibility for design delivery and building long-term client relationships.

In addition, you bring the following:

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline, providing the technical credibility required to lead and challenge multidisciplinary design teams;
• Proven experience as a Project Manager within a design consultancy, ensuring a deep understanding of design processes and coordination between disciplines;
• Demonstrated experience leading complex design projects, preferably within data centres or other mission critical facilities, to manage technical interfaces and design risks effectively;
• (Native or) very fluent German is highly desired, enabling effective communication with clients, authorities, and local stakeholders, with English required for international collaboration;
• Strong proficiency with project management and design coordination tools, supporting structured planning, reporting, and control of complex design programmes.
