Environment, Health and Safety Manager focus on Biosafety

The site in Visp, Switzerland is growing and for our Biologics organization, we are currently looking for a Environment, Health and Safety ( EHS) Manager who is responsible for the successful implementation, supervision and optimization of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety programs at the Visp site. The role is also responsible for assuring compliance of the site in regard to biosafety standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

• As a member of the biosafety team the role is supporting and maintaining the site-wide biosafety program in accordance with applicable regulations and policies as well as national and international biosafety standards.

• Drive compliance with EHS regulations and international standards on site.

• Assures compliance of the site with general biosafety standards and policies as well as with national and international biosafety regulations. Maintain and evolve biosafety documents (e.g. project registrations, SOPs, guidelines, biosafety manual) based on evolving authorities' requirements and industry trends and standards.

• Acts as the internal and external contact person (e.g. inspection authorities) to promote safe microbiological practices, processes, procedures and proper use of containment equipment and facilities. Conduct and participate in periodic internal and external biosafety audits and compliance reviews of the site.

• Evaluates and performs biosafety risk assessments, provides advice and takes appropriate actions to remediate and/or mitigate biosafety risks on the site and determines biosafety level & safety measures for all "bio"-projects on the site.

• Co-create new EHS trainings with SMEs and the training team.

Key requirements:

• MS or PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry or related areas, EHS certification will be an advantage

• Relevant experience preferable in industrial production, in microbiological and laboratory safety; additionally experience in a cell culture lab and/or in medical area is a plus

• Knowledge of national biosafety guidelines and regulations; Biosafety Courses recommended by the Swiss biosafety authorities are a plus, but can be attained on the job

• Intrinsic motivation to promote a proactive culture of safety and compliance and accounting for biosafety

• Take initiative, be organized and be able to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner

• Fluency in German and English is a must
