International Sustainable Development - Resource Centre, Geneva is an international development organization established in 2008, with a focus on fostering collaboration amongst various multi-stakeholder groups to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The organization works with academic institutions, businesses, civil society, donor agencies, international organizations, and governments to build capacities and develop innovative solutions for sustainable development challenges. Leveraging a knowledge economy approach and advanced technology like ICT and the Internet, the center aims to remove barriers to sustainable development. Guided by values of integrity, respect, teamwork, and a commitment to sustainability, the Resource Centre is dedicated to tackling global development issues efficiently and effectively.

Role Description

The Senior Director - Global Program SDG 15, Life on Land, will oversee strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of global initiatives related to sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation. This contract position includes developing partnerships, aligning programs with SDG 15 objectives, and collaborating with multi-stakeholder groups. Key day-to-day responsibilities include leading program teams, conducting high-level engagements with partners, overseeing budgets, guiding innovation in leveraging ICT to address sustainable development issues, and reporting on program outcomes. This is a hybrid role based in Geneva, Switzerland, with some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Strategic planning, project management, and program implementation expertise
  • Strong understanding of sustainable development, SDG 15, biodiversity conservation, and land management
  • Proven ability to build and manage partnerships with academic institutions, businesses, civil society organizations, and government agencies
  • Exceptional leadership, inter-personal, and team management skills
  • Proficiency in leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for sustainable development solutions
  • Experience in budgeting, resource management, and financial planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and public speaking
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, International Relations, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in leading and managing global programs in international development
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills, particularly in French, are a strong asset
  • Preferably our Senior Fellow and certified
